The three-star Hotell Skinnargården is located right by the railway station in Malung, just a minute’s walk from the main street Storgatan and Grönland Park. The hotel has 50 rooms and you can choose between four room types, namely single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms and quadruple rooms.
The rooms are relatively modernly decorated with comfortable furniture. A TV with cable channels is standard. A special feature is that you can order breakfast in your room. The hotel’s own restaurant serves Swedish home cooking in generous portions.
The hotel’s well-stocked bar offers refreshments and strong drinks. It is worth noting that the restaurant and bar are popular destinations for Malungs residents themselves. Hotel Skinnargården is a popular hotel for many who want good accommodation as a base for adventures in the rich natural environments around Malung. The fishing, for example, is excellent. There are also many popular hiking trails.
Sankt Olof Hotell & Krog
The three-star Sankt Olof Hotell & Krog is the most exclusive hotel in Malung. In addition to excellent hotel rooms, it offers a wide range of amenities. The hotel is located on Storgatan, about one kilometre from the railway station.
Sankt Olof hotell & Krog has a total of 51 hotel rooms in four different variants, namely single rooms, twin rooms, family rooms and junior suites. All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV with cable channels and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms also have a balcony and a minibar.
Of course, all bathrooms are separate. The hotel’s own restaurant serves a high-class à la carte menu. The focus is on traditional Swedish dishes, but there are also a number of international elements. There is also a bar and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. For relaxation, there is access to a sauna.
Lugnet Inn
Värdshuset Lugnet is a three-star guesthouse housed in a beautiful building built at the end of the 19th century. The guesthouse is beautifully situated by the Västerdalälven river about 7 km from the centre of Malung. Värdshuset Lugnet offers five different types of accommodation, namely single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms, family rooms and apartments.
The apartments are equipped with bathroom, living room and fully equipped kitchen. All rooms and apartments are equipped with a TV with cable channels.
The hotel offers both an à la carte restaurant and a well-stocked bar. Other facilities include a sauna and free Wi-Fi. And, not to forget, the view of the Västerdalälven river is fantastic. Malung Camping
In Malung there is something as unusual as a campsite that has been awarded three stars. This is Malungs Camping and the reason is partly due to its fantastic location right on the Västerdalälven river.
Despite the very scenic location, it is only about 800 metres to the centre of Malung. The campsite has 24 cabins. You can choose between Stuga Economy (shared bathroom) and Stuga with one bedroom. All cabins have a kitchenette with a fridge and hotplates.
A number of cottages have a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Inside the main building, additional facilities include a fully equipped kitchen and a TV room. The campsite’s café is open in summer. However, the campsite does not have a restaurant. However, there is an outdoor swimming pool. You can also hire canoes and bikes for adventures on or around the river.
Malung Sälen Hostel
Malung hostel is located in the centre of Malung and is a simple and functional hostel.
where guests are offered free Wi-Fi and all rooms have a TV and a sofa group. Bathrooms are available for each room.

About Malung

Some of the outdoor activities are centred on Sälen and Sälenfjällen, but even just outside Malung you have great opportunities to experience a piece of untouched nature through all imaginable outdoor activities.
Swedish Dance Band Week
One event that is organised during the summer, and which has recently grown into a national event to say the least, is the Swedish Dance Band Week. In week 29 every year, Malung organises a real party for everyone who likes to listen to and dance to dance band music. The event takes place in the town’s folk park, Orrskogen.

Every year almost 50,000 visitors come to little Malung to dance and socialise. During Swedish Dance Band Week, the hotels in the town are of course fully booked. To get a place in one of the town’s hotels during week 29, you need to book well in advance. Sälenfjällen
During the winter months, Sälenfjällen is in absolute focus. Sälenfjällen is an area about six miles from the centre of Malung where there are a total of seven winter sports facilities. These are Hundfjället, Högfjället, Lindvallen, Kläppen, Näsfjället, Stöten and Tandådalen. Lindvallen and Hundfjället have a more child-friendly focus, while Tandådalen is aimed at more advanced skiers.
Attractions in Malung
The sights in Malung/Sälen are mainly about farmhouses and living cultural heritage. There are a number of farmhouses to visit in Malung and the surrounding area. If you visit a sheep farm, you can gain some insight into what it was like to work the land and look after livestock in earlier times. It’s a fascinating experience to go into the houses of the past (there are low ceilings!) and hear stories about life in the forests.
Jannesgården, Malung hembygdsgård, Fredriksson Konsthantverk, Benstampen at Sörbäcken and Edet kvarn are examples of cultural attractions in and around Malung. All these attractions are within easy driving distance.
Shopping and entertainment
When it comes to shopping in Malung, the main focus is on leather goods. Malung has a very long tradition of leather production, which is reflected in the fact that the town currently has around 20 shops selling only leather products.
The choice of restaurants and pubs is naturally limited. However, there are a handful of relatively high-class restaurants, pubs and bars. Malung is a very beautiful part of Dalarna.
